PC Building Guide

Making your own computer is easy, ecomonical, and will set you up to have a good machine for a long time. Let's begin.

  1. Determine your initial goals.
  2. Determine budget.
  3. Priorities.

Determine your goals

Why do you want a new computer? Web browsing? Gaming? Office work? Video Production? Web server?

Determine your budget

This will determine where you source your parts and how upgradeable you wish for the platform to be.

Priorites

Should be the display you're looking at and the keyboard / mouse you touch.

Modern requirements

Any machine you build should boot and run application from a solid state drive in 2019. Spinning disks are for archival purposes only.

Consider that 1080p is a golden standard at this time. Going above 27 inches on your display, I would not advise.

If you have a small budget, a used machine is your best option. Do not skimp on monitor and kb/m. You can always hide away an old looking machine creatively.
